PWC Luncheon, Sept. 16, 12 @11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall #FPCM

Please join us after worship service on Sunday, Sept. 16 for our luncheon. Our speaker will be our own health and fitness guru, Kristy Sketeris. Kristy will be sharing with us about Health or Fitness – What’s the Difference, and Why Does It Matter? She will share with us about knowing what our goal really is, and how each of us can take the ‘do-able’ steps to achieve it. Kristy has made health and fitness her lifestyle, and has taught these principles to women’s groups in other area congregations… See you there!

There is no charge to attend the luncheon. A basket for donations will be available to help offset the cost of lunch.

Caring for Clifton - school registration!

We are partnering with Clifton Middle school again this year!  You helped make a big impact on the life of that school last year and now we have the opportunity to continue it.  Clifton will be holding their registration days for the students on Tuesday, August 21 and Wednesday, August 22 with the time frame of 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.  These are important days in the life of this school and they need all the help they can get.  Here are the details:

·        Address for the school is 226 South Ivy in Monrovia.  1 block from our church!!
·        Work either day or both if you like.
·        Time frame is 8:00 am to noon.  If you would like to work the whole time, please arrive at 7:30 am to Clifton to be briefed on what to do.  But if you can only give an hour or so, then just show up and you will be placed in the best spot.
·        Things that you will be doing – taking registration papers, taking money, passing out uniforms and so on.
·        Most places will be inside so you will sit and be in an air conditioned room.
·        Also, children are welcome and can be helpers as well.
·        Please see Courtney Glass when you arrive and he will be able to direct to you where you need to be.

We would like to give them a list of people who are committed to help by Monday, August 20 so that they know what holes to fill so please think and pray about how you can help and respond to this email (alicia@fpcmonrovia.org) or sign up on the patio on Sunday, August 19th.

Thank you church family!  We are excited to see what God has in mind as we continue to partner with Clifton.

VBS-Freedom in the Marketplace-Last night

Dear church family-

I would like to invite you to the last night of VBS.  We have a meal together and then go into the sanctuary to have a worship service where we will sing, talk about the mission project – Schools in the Sand, hear our last drama and see the slide show of the week.  This is a great time to come and see what God has done throughout the week of VBS.  The meal costs $5 per person and you will get grilled chicken, rice and salad with a drink.  If you plan on coming to the meal, please let Alicia know ASAP as she needs to have an official food count for the caterer.

Here is a little about our mission project for the week:
This project came to our attention through two members of our church who were Pakistan missionaries.  Schools in the Sand was founded by Caleb John, back in 2001, who wanted nothing more than to share his love of Christ and the desire to see children get a good education.  There are many remote villages in Pakistan which predominately have Hindu families and they do not have enough money to send their children to school, let alone pay for the uniforms and books.  Not only that, but there is an animosity between the Hindus and the Muslims of Pakistan so that the Hindus are discriminated against even if they try to go to school in the city.  Seeing this broke Caleb’s heart and he decided to start this ministry of schools so that Hindu children would not be discriminated against, but would be told how much Jesus loves them.  The schools are set up Family style, where all the children learn together in one room ranging in grade from Kindergarten to Fifth Grade.  Many children and families have been come to know Jesus through his ministry and have even been baptized. If it were not for these schools, these children would not be getting a basic education.  It is an honor to support this ministry through our VBS this year.  If you have any questions, please call Alicia Glass regarding this ministry.

So Thursday, June 28 at 6:00 pm…come and experience VBS!!

Caring for Clifton all done for the year!!

Dear Church Family-

How amazing to be able to provide a fantastic meal for the staff and teachers on Tuesday, June 5.  They all ate until they were full and enjoyed every bite.  We are so grateful to have a church family who is so giving and caring towards others.  The way that you have given to Clifton through your time and money is showing that you care for them and they see that.  As each teacher and staff left, they all said how wonderful the food was and how much they appreciate our partnership.  So thank you for being so gracious!!

We will continue our partnership with them next year as well.  If you have any ideas of how we could help them or if you would like to be a part of the Connections Team, please email Alicia Glass at alicia@fpcmonrovia.org.  Thank you and God bless!!

Last Caring for Clifton Middle School event...

Thank you so much for all your generosity over the school year.  I know that the Principal, Ms. Gates and Assistant Principal, Mr. Glass as well as the staff have appreciated our presence.  We hope to continue our presence next year and maybe get onto campus to help out.  Please start thinking about how you can be a part of that.

On Tuesday, June 5 we will be hosting a lunch for the staff at Clifton.  We are having a taco bar.  There are still some items that we are in need of:

1 Small container of sour cream
Four or five limes
2 more desserts
Bag of shredded lettuce
1 pound of cooked, shredded chicken – need two people to volunteer to bring this
1 pound of cooked shredded pork – need two people to volunteer to bring this

You are always welcome to come and help set up and serve the staff.  We will start set up at 11:30 am in Room 6 at Clifton Middle school – lunch is from 12:27 to 1:02 and then we will clean up after that.

Please send an email to Alicia alicia@fpcmonrovia.org  if you are willing to help out in any way…thank you so much.
