VBS is going to be a lot of fun this year. We will be teaching the timeless truths of Scripture in a way that kids will embrace. Since summer is the time for movie blockbusters, we thought why not incorporate our area’s biggest business with The Greatest Story Ever Told! So we came up withHolyWord Studios

Each day of VBS our cast members (students) will experience a different theme and Bible story. We will be using games, music and media to make this a memorable VBS experience. Of course, we can not do this without you. We anticipate 90 students this year, so we need lots of production assistants, craft service people, artists, and many other support staff. It is a lot of fun and you will be investing in the faith of our youth. We are also looking for a mob of Paparazzi with cameras for our opening night, so there is something for everyone to do.

We look forward to seeing you on the set opening night!

#FPCM 2014 Annual Congregational Meeting

This coming Sunday January 12, is FPCM Annual Congregational Meeting after service.

This Sunday after worship, members of the San Gabriel Presbytery’s Presbytery Evaluation Team (PET) will lead a congregational meeting to discuss our desire to transfer to the Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterians (ECO). They will probably state their reasons why we should stay and they will invite our members to say why we want to transfer. It is my understanding that they are not going to take a vote of the congregation at this time.

As a reminder, In October of 2012, the Session vote to seek transfer to ECO because of theological essentials giving way to cultural practices such as:
  • A theological drift in the denomination leading away from the Bible as our authority and relegating it to a “guide.”
  • The denomination now claims that there is no one interpretation of of our Reformed faith.
  • Statements from denominational leaders denying that Jesus is the only way to salvation.
  • A non-biblical interpretation of marriage.
  • The ordination of candidates for the office of Pastor who are in unrepentant, unbiblical relationships including candidates living in sexual relationships that the Bible calls sin, both homosexual and heterosexual.
  • The seizing of all assets, real and private property, including the church buildings, investments, trusts and anything with a dollar value. The denominations holds claim to all property through a property trust clause enacted at the denominational merger to create the PCUSA in 1984. NOTE: ECO does not have a property trust clause and all property belongs to the individual church.
Please stay for the meeting and as always, keep the Session and the leadership of FPCM in prayer as we proceed through this dismissal process.

After the meeting, we will be taking the manger scene back to the basement for those who can help us.

God Bless and see you on Sunday,
Pastor Tony
